The factory assisted open (AO) is strong on the open, but easily overcome when closing. The detent stop, locks the blade closed with the expected effort to open again. Strong and sturdy, I believe a person could make these last a long time if they take care of them. Yes, you can pinch the sides and see the deflection, but there are plenty of high quality knives that you can pinch the sides to distortion. Stainless steel, but black coated blades are resistant to corrosion, an occasional quick oil wipe and a drop at the pivot, it should continue to snap on deploy, and close with a snap, without damaging the cutting edge. Sharpen, hone and polish to a wicked edge, it could be maintained with a kitchen steel, until the edge rolls or blunts from use. These Stainless steels are tough, often when you find edge damage, it can be straightened part of the way back to center, and honed out with a few laps on a coarse grit stone, and then step it up to hair splitting sharp. It's surprising what the right person can do with these knives. Add a ceramic sharpening rod to your order, for a quick and handy on the spot hone.

The USA flag knife has a pocket clip, it rides at the top of the pocket. It has a lanyard bar, but it would be better to attach a knife pull on the pocket clip.

The Mexican flag waiting for the supplier to restock! has a pocket clip, rides at the the top of the pocket. The blade is big, a wide modified Bolo shape, reminds me of a machete blade. The blade carries tip down, and blade facing into the pocket. Might be safer to carry on the left. A lanyard could be placed under the pocket clip. Beautiful knife.
